[UN]Apparent worlds from 8. 3. 2025 in Bad Arolsen
The smallest remnants and relics will populate the Bad Arolsen Museum from 8.03. – 18.05. 2025.
I am very much looking forward to the upcoming special exhibition at the Residenzschloss
“Magdalena Hohlweg’s collages elevate incoherence to an art form.
The highly individual and intuitive selection of everyday found objects opens up new perspectives in the works and establishes their own [UN]order.
Every element, no matter how banal, is essential to the overall message of the bizarre works and puts our perception to the test.
Depending on their placement in the works, the most banal fragments result in either bird-like creatures or insects, which are often not so easy to distinguish from the real models from nature.
Insect or not insect? That’s the question here!”

The insect collection 13A elevates the principles of incoherence and randomness to an art form. Through the highly individual and random compilation of everyday finds, it opens up new perspectives and establishes a radically new order. Every detail, no matter how small, is declared indispensable here.
These and countless other questionable finds will populate the baroque residential palace in Bad Arolsen from March 8.
The most banal fragments in a historical setting – fits, wobbles and has air! I’m really looking forward to this further museum presentation – as with Romanticism 2.0 in the Bad Pyrmont Castle Museum, metamorphosis will once again play a central role alongside the numerous collages. Change is not only a social issue, but above all requires our own personal courage. The development of butterflies has always fascinated us humans – and also scares us a little.
In Bad Arolsen, thanks to the fantastic support of the museum team, I was once again able to build a walk-in cocoon – for your own transformation – if you dare.
